All Wi-Fi is Now unsafe!

partners320header

Researchers have discovered a flaw in the security protocol that’s a fixture in almost every modern Wi-Fi device, including computers, phones and routers, reported ZDNet on Monday…

“All Wi-Fi clients we tested were vulnerable” to an attack on that handshake, Vanhoef wrote.

Why you shouldn’t delete your Yahoo account

partners320header

If you delete your Yahoo account and move it to Gmail,  it appears doing so may open another workaround for hackers. Yahoo recycles old email addresses, which means that 30 days after your account is deleted, someone could open a new account with your old Yahoo email address and potentially use it to gain access to your other accounts.

After opening an account with the address you vacated, a nefarious individual could impersonate you and fire off password resets requests to get into any of your other online accounts to which you’ve linked your Yahoo email.

So, instead of deleting your Yahoo account, you should change your password, turn on two-step verification, disconnect all connected services and move to Gmail while leaving your Yahoo account inactive.

Credit Card Skimmers & Gas Pumps

partners320header

At gas stations, skimmers can be installed in less than 30 seconds,

and they’ll record all your card data for collection by the bad guys. It’s an easy gig: Those pumps are often unattended late at night, and thieves can plug in their skimmers while pretending to get gas.
The skimmer stores the data, and the scammers return to grab the stolen credit or debit card numbers over Bluetooth, without touching the pump again.
Gas station owners aren’t likely to rush to make changes. It’s more expensive to upgrade pumps than ATMs.

5 billion devices are vulnerable to BlueBorne

partners320header

More than 5.3 billion devices with Bluetooth signals are at risk of a malware attack newly identified by an internet of things security company.

Nearly every connected device out there has Bluetooth capability. Your phones, laptops, speakers, car entertainment systems — the list goes on and on to even the most mundane gadgets.

With BlueBorne, all hackers need to spread malware is for their victims’ devices to have Bluetooth turned on, said Nadir Izrael, Armis’ chief technology officer.

And once one device has been infected, the malware can spread to other devices nearby with the Bluetooth turned on. By scattering over the airwaves, BlueBorne is “highly infectious,” Armis Labs said.

“We’ve run through scenarios where you can walk into a bank and it basically starts spreading around everything,” Izrael said.
